'Wave Riders'. Two tiny bits of sea-battered wood became wave-riding whales when I added some tails and mounted them on a lovely lump of wood that to me looks like a wave. £60 plus P&P SOLD at Gallery 22 Bridge Street, Chester.
As soon as I found this piece of wood tangled up in the strandline, I knew it would be an Angel Fish. It took a while to find the right base and then a friend gave me some shards of polished glass from her project, so I set them into the base. Then I mounted the lot on top of a piece of wave-battered driftwood with two rusty nails sticking out of it! It's £55 plus p&p It measures approx. 24x25x10 cm THIS PIECE HAS BEEN DONATED TO OUTSIDE LIVES CHARITY ART AUCTION TO RAISE MONEY FOR A COMMUNITY MINI BUS
When I found two pieces of wave-washed wood in the high tide line, I thought straight away - 'DUCKS!' Well, wouldn't you? I've added some smooth glass shards as feather detail and a bit of old fishing net cork. They're resting on a chunky piece of charred wood rescued from an old beach fire. Then I spread some silver gilding paste on my finger and highlighted the lovely tumbled wood. They measure 13x12x14 cm approx. They can swim to you for £40 plus p&p.
Whale. It's amazing what you find stranded on the shore in North Wales! This piece spoke whale to me immediately I found it. £65 plus P&P
This piece of wood was tangled up in some bladder wrack but I saw the peeling white paint and the smear of red and quickly untangled it and put it in my back pack. Like most of my other finds, it's been sitting, drying and waiting patiently in my workshop until I had a brainwave.... My sister gave me some old necklaces and as soon as I saw this bead I thought of a mini tree. I rummaged in my box and found these mini blocks of wood left over from another project. I carved a little boat and attached it with an old chain to a little 'mooring bollard'. It's hard to see from the photo but there are some metal 'rungs' fixed into the 'cliff face'. It can be displayed with or without the little wedge of driftwood at the base, which is loose. The piece measures 21x15x7 cm It is £50 plus P&P
Strutting Bird I love the way this bird struts. These two pieces just had to be joined together, with old rusty nails for the long legs. £125 plus P&p NOW REDUCED TO £100
SPRAT. This was a great find whilst wandering along the beach at Dinas Dinlle. The block of wood is from an old washed up pallet which still had the nail and washer sticking out of it. I've added some of my favourite gold rubbing paste, just to enhance the lovely textures of the wood. £75 plus p&p NOW REDUCED TO £60
Is It a Bird? Another exciting find from a little cove on Anglesey. Actually, my nephew who lives there found it for me, I have the whole family on the look-out for strange pieces washed up on the shore! £125
Wandering Waders. These two little unique wading birds are mounted on old cork floats. £80 for the pair.
LEVIATHAN This sperm whale is made from a piece of wood washed up on Gronant beach. I've added clay tail and a rusty bottom jaw and it is mounted on a piece of wave washed wood complete with its rusty nails. The 'eye' was already in the wood and the shape is as I found it. £60 plus P&P
